Top 3 questions we receive

If you are here reading this, it’s likely that you have had these same questions that we are asked on a regular basis. Chances are, you have explored the internet surrounding the topic of pelvic floor physical therapy and you have landed here.

We operate off a mobile model, meaning we travel to your home for convenience to make things just that much easier for you to get the care you need and deserve.

The first question we get asked all the time is: what areas do you travel to? Although it may seem like a simple question, it does not have a simple answer. We treat all throughout the Twin Cities metro area. We also offer virtual visits for those outside of the metro area. We prefer to do an in-person evaluation, so we try our best to schedule the first visit in-home for those within an hour drive from a provider’s home. This often lends to a hybrid model where the first visit is in-person and then follow ups are virtual, scheduling periodic in-person visits throughout depending on the individual’s needs. If you are wondering if we service your area, give us a call.

How long are sessions and how many will I need?

All our sessions are an hour long, whether in-home or virtual. You can expect about 45-50 minutes of treatment time with 5-10 minutes to wrap up, summarize the session, and pack up. The number of sessions greatly varies depending on condition, length of symptoms, severity of symptoms, and how your body adapts to the treatments. Some patients may only need a few sessions, while others may require many.

We tend to treat in phases throughout the treatment process. The first phase usually lasts 2-3 sessions and we are nailing down where your symptoms are coming from and if there are underlying causes to your symptoms that may not be obvious at first. The second phase is treating the symptoms and underlying causes, and patients are generally seen one time per week. This usually includes several lifestyle modifications, home exercises, and sometimes hands on treatments. This is when you will start seeing big improvements in how you feel and your symptoms will start going away. The third phase is adding back in anything that we may have temporarily eliminated, and challenging your body to see if we can keep symptoms away. We see patients once a week or once every other week during this phase. The last phase is when you become independent in managing your symptoms and we usually schedule 1-2 sessions to check in and make sure you know your triggers, how to manage a flare, and feel confident in completing a routine that fits your lifestyle for home exercises. Each person progresses through these phases at different paces, so it’s impossible to predict how many sessions you may need!

The third question we receive from almost anyone that calls us is “do you take my insurance”? All our services are eligible for reimbursement using out-of-network physical therapy benefits. We have no way of knowing what each individual insurance plan has for out-of-network coverage, so we never give estimates on what reimbursement you should expect. We are transparent in our pricing and you will never receive a surprise bill in the mail months down the road. If you are deciding if you want to use an in-network clinic or work with us or another cash-based clinic, there are several factors you need to consider.

We see patients once a week to start, whereas most in-network clinics will have you coming in twice a week at first. Physical therapists are usually categorized as specialists, and depending on the plan, copays for specialists can be upwards of $50-75 per visit. And that does not include what you are responsible for before you hit your deductible. Most clinics bill out $300-400 per visit. Your insurance company may kick that back a little, but if you are on a high deductible plan, you may be responsible for the full amount before insurance will cover any of it.

We provide the necessary paperwork (called a superbill) if you want to submit self claims to your insurance on an out-of-network basis. Some insurance companies reimburse quite nicely for out-of-network sessions, it just depends on the plan.

Finally, we accept HSA and FSA payments as well, and you can connect your card directly to our payment processor to make things seamless!
